The most reliable form of birth control, performed personally by Dr. Savatta.
Vasectomy is over 99% effective and recovery is short. The procedure is performed under local anesthesia in the office using the no-scalpel technique. It is performed personally by Dr. Savatta — not delegated to a resident, nurse practitioner, or trainee.
What 'no-scalpel' actually means
A small opening is made with a fine instrument instead of a scalpel. There is one opening, no stitches in most cases, and minimal bruising. Same-day discharge is the rule.
Recovery — what's realistic
Most men return to a desk job in 2-3 days and to physical work in about a week. Soreness for 3-5 days is normal. Heavy lifting and sex are paused for a week.
Sterility is confirmed with a semen analysis at 12 weeks. Until that confirmation, contraception is still required.
Common questions
Is it painful?
Most men describe it as 'less than I expected.' Local anesthesia is given before anything else happens. Soreness for a few days is the most common complaint.
Is it reversible?
Vasectomy reversal is possible but requires microsurgery and success is not guaranteed. We treat vasectomy as a permanent decision and want every patient certain before scheduling.
Will it affect testosterone or sex drive?
No. Vasectomy blocks sperm transport only. Hormone production, ejaculation volume (mostly), and libido are unaffected.
